We held our very first Brotherhood BBQ at Brother Kyle's house, inviting Brethren and Non Brethren to join us, and though it our numbers were low we had a ton of great food and a lot of laughs!
We managed to take our Traveling Monkey of Brotherly Love and bring it to one of our favorite lodges, nelson Lodge #135. For those who don't know, our lodges Traveling Trophy is a Monkey who dances and plays music, and it spreads joy and friendship between us and the brothers of whatever lodge it is being brought to! On this particular night we also received a wonderful LEO presentation from the Grand Lodge of Minnesota's Sn. Grand Deacon, WB Ed Halpaus.
During our 2nd stated meeting in June, our District Rep, WB Vern Schwalbe came out and presented the Silver Lodge Recognition Award to our Jr. Past master Jamie Romness for his leadership and all the lodges hard work in 2013. Filling in as Master for the night was our Sn. Warden Terrance Schaffer.
We raised funds for our Scholarship Fund while holding our 3rd Annual Beer & Cigar Night at Claddgh's Pub in Maple Grove. After expenses we did manage to raise over $300.00 towards our goal.
The Brothers of Sherburne Lodge were honored to present the Hiram Award to our own Brother Ken Warneke, for his nearly 50 years of service to the lodge and dedication to the craft.
We were so pleased to hold our WB James LaRock Schlarship Dinner before our Stated Meeting in June. It had been too long since our lodge had been able to present these awards and so it was even more special to give out scholarships to 4 local recipients! Our Committee Chairman and Sn. Warden gave them out to those present!
In May we raised two new Master Masons as well as perfoming a courtesy Degree for our Brothers at Nelson Lodge #135. It was a great day with everyone doing a good job in their parts!
As was the costom here in 2013, the Sherburne Masonic Family got together on the 5th Tuesday of the month in order to spend some social time with each other and our family's. Though this gathering was smaller then most we had a great time and ate some wonderful pot luck food!
The Lovely Ladies of our own Whittemore Chapter #283, along with some of our Brothers from the lodge, put on Operation bookworm, a program created to give books to Military families for their children.
We held a Fellow Craft Degree for our two members as well as two courtesy degrees, one for Golden Fleece Lodge #89 and the other for Monticello Lodge #16. Some newer brothers stepped up and did the work for their first time and did a nice job!
We were fortunate this year to be able to attend this years Lynnhurst Dinner as a lodge, most years this event lands on our Stated Meeting night, but we made a great showing by taking a whole table ourselves!
Sherburne Lodge made a great showing at this years Grand Lodge, considering our size we had a number of Brothers attend the many workshops and the banquet in the evening. This was not counting our Hospitality Suite being a big hit.
After finally locating it, having been missing for nearly 5 years, we traveled out to Sharon Lodge #104 in Wilmar Minnesota to rescue our own Traveling Trophy. It is our hope to deliver the Dancing Monkey of Brotherly Love to another Lodge soon!
We held our first meeting at our new home at Riverwood Inn at Otsego, Our Sn. Warden sitting in as Master for the night.
The ladies ofWhittemore Chapter #283 held their Officer Installation and we were happy to be a small part of it. We know they will have another great year under Worthy Matron Barb and Worthy Patron Alan!
We held our first ever Casino Night to promote better relationships between us and other lodges and Brothers. We had 21 Brothers attend from 5 lodges and a super night was had by all!
In early March we held our first of two scheduled Dual Meetings with Monticello Lodge, it ended up being with us assisting them in putting on an EA Degree for their newest member. It was a wonderful night of cooperation and assistance.
This month we traveled to visit our Brothers at Arcana Lodge #187 and got to assist with them putting on an EA Degree.
It was our pleasure to give out Past Master's aprons to a couple of our deserving Past Masters, WB Jamie Romness and WB Reno Massimino.
The week after our Entered Apprentice Degree we gathered to celebrate with our newset members as well as wishing a Brother Happy Birthday at McCoy's Pub in Elk River!
