Tonight at Sherburne Lodge we presented WB Vern Schwalbe a Certificate of Appreciation for his work as our DR as he retires after 10 years as a DR for the Grand Lodge! March 16th, 2015
We held our Second Annual Casino Night at Riverwood Inn, and though it was a smaller turn out then the first year, we had the Grand Master of Minnesota, James Christensen in attendance as well as Brothers from 4 lodges who all had a good time, great food and terrific Brotherhood. March 7th, 2015
Presenting a check to the Anoka DeMolay, $241.00 Dollars donated by Sherburne Lodge #95 members for their trip to Texas! March 4th, 2015
Our Brothers from Anoka Lodge was holding a fund raiser for Gage Hoy, the Son of Brother Asher Hoy who has cancer. As a lodge we were able to assist in a variety of ways, bringing in over $1500.00 dollars. Here is our Worshipful Master Presenting another $500.00 in cash to Brother Asher on the day of the event!
It was so wonderful to have the young men of the Anoka DeMolay come out to visit our lodge and put on a performance of a few parts of their degrees. They are getting ready to travel to Texas to compete there and did a nice job!
For our first outing this year we took our visit to NE-Winslow Lodge #125 in Osseo where we met by not only our Area Deputy WB Don Nolley, but also our outgoing District Rep WB Vern Schwalbe and our incoming one WB Phil Carlson. Also in attendance was the Grand Lodge Tyler WB Dayton Berg. It was great to sit with our Brothers and their Worshipful Master David Foote.
We had our Inaugural Bob Bowersox Highland Table Lodge at Riverwood. It was a great night and a wonderful success for the lodge. We had not only our guest of honor but also the Grand Master of Prince Hall Masons of Minnesota, Kymphus Mohammad as well as the Senior Grand Steward from the Grand Lodge of Minnesota, Eathan Seaberg. We also had sitting Masters from 5 lodges and Brothers from all over the Twin Cities. (11 Total Lodges) There were Scottish Dancers, Pipers and Musicians, and much merriment. We held an open Installation of our 2015 Officers at Riverwood Inn, with many friends and family in attendance. The food was served by the members of Whittemore Chapter #283. It was a wonderful day!
As has been our tradition the past few years, we went out and rang the bells for the Salvation Army to raise money for them. This time outside Cub Foods in Elk River. Luckily it wasn't too cold and we had some fun wishing folks a Happy Holidays!
We had a wonderful night of fellowship and a showing of appreciation of our deserving Brothers for their commitment to the craft on various levels. It was a record high in a long time of brothers in attendance from our lodge and it was great to have the Grand Master James Christensen and other Grand Lodge members share the night with us. We gave out a 60 year pin to our most senior member, WB Dan Anderson, who graced us with his wonderful train wistle immitation. Some of the other Awards given out were the Dependable Brother Award to WB Ken Martin, the Excellence Award to Brother James Kush, and Mason of the Year to Brother Dennis Niles. We also gave out a new award, The Extended Cable Tow Award to Brother Kyle Scott!
It was a great night at McCoy's pub for our 1st ever Oktoberfest Night. This was an evening of not only good fellowship, but we also raised money for a worthy Brother in distress as well as for our scholarship fund. (Here is a small sample of pictures!)
We held our second Dual Meeting of the year with our Brothers at Monticello Lodge. Beofre the meeting we were pleased to have the Miss Minnesota of Job's Daughters, Sara Brown come out!
We took this night to show our appreciation and thanks to our Sisters in the OES Whittemore Chapter #283 by making dinner for them this night!
It was great to travel and visit our brothers out at Forest Lake Lodge #344, where we even got to visit with Past grand Master of Minnesota MWB David E. Olsen!
We were somehow lucky enough to win 3rd place for our float in the Sherburne County Parade. Brother Terrance was pleased to present WM Dustin with the Check!
A couple of our lodge members made it down to Bloomington to participate in the historic cornerstone laying at the Grand Lodge of Minnesota. It was a wonderful day of brotherhood and reminded all of us about the day when MWB George Washington stood at the White House and performed the same ceremony.
Once again the Sherburne Masonic Family participated in the Relay for Life benefiting Cancer Research. With members walking in the event and running games of chance to help raise more funds on that day.
We held our first Fellowship Picnic at Lions Park in Elk River. Everyone's summer activities took it's toll on our numbers but we had a beutiful day, a good spread of food and games of skill with prizes for the winners!
It was great to get out the Masonic Float and share it not only with our own Whittemore Chapter of the Easter Star Sisters but also with members of our appending bodies. We passed out flyers and waved to the crowd, with members of the Scottish Rite, York Rite (Knights Templar), Selim Grotto, Zuhrah Shrine, Job's Daughters and the DeMolay!
Our newest Master Masons proved up in their 3rd Degree memory work and did a great job. This continues our progression towards doing better ritual work and taking pride in who we are. Here they are receiving their masonic Bibles, with Chris Peddicord and Jeremy Maguire, along with WM Dustin Wiebold and Sn. Warden Terrance Schaffer who conducted the Proficiency Exam!
