We hosted our second Guest L.E.O. presentation tonight, with none other than MWB Brian Beermann, Past Grand Master of Minnesota in attendance. He gave an interesting talk about Freemasonry and the ties to Ancient Egypt as well as those lessons we need to remember as Masons.
We presented awards received by the lodge for our fundraising for the Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society, as well as having a few of our Brothers getting their Certificates from the Scottish Rite for becoming Masters of the Royal Secret. (Other Brothers will be presented later) Lastly the lodge received our Bronze Level Recongnition from Grand Lodge for our achievements last year, this being presented by our Distric Rep WB Philip Carlson and WB Don Nolley, our Area Deputy.
The members of Sherburne Lodge were honored to be asked to assist in a Dual Presentation Ceramony along side our Sisters in the Whittemore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. The Ceramony reminds us of our ties to each other and those lessons we share. They were putting it on in honor of the founder of the OES, Brother Rob Morris.
We held our first Fellow Craft Degree of the year, with many Brothers filling in at new roles and still the work came off good as we brought two Brothers to more light in Masonry!
It was a Banner Year for the Sherburne Masonic Family as we once again walked in the Relay for Life benifiting the American Cancer Society. Not only did we have a large participation from members and their families but thanks to our Co-Committe Chairmen, WB Tony Oker and Worthy Matron Barb Lawton, we managed to raise nearly 4k in funds, which along with matching funds from Minnesota Masonic Chairities should bring almost 8k to tis wonderful organization.
Once again we held our second Annual Fellowship Picnic at Lions Park in Elk River, a Pot Luck gathering of our entire Masonic Family with both the Sherburne Lodge members and our counterparts in the Whittemore Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. It was a beautiful day and everyone made some great food to share. We played some Bocce Ball and have a few races for the kids and it was nice to just sit and chat and enjoy the summer and each other!
It was so great to put on our first degree of the year and to have two new Brothers join the Fraternity! We had Brothers come from 4 different lodges to watch and share in the work and everyone did a nice job with thier parts!
For a second year in a row we had a float in the Sherburne County Fair Parade in Elk River. Last years float had too many repairs and so a new one is being constructed, but in the meantime our members came together and put together this make shift one. It was a lot fo fun and everyone did a nice job on the float. We passed out nearly 200 flyers and saranaded the crowd!
We went out and sold Brats, Dogs and Hamburgers at the Cub Foods in Elk River along with our Sisters in the Whittemore Chapter of the Eastern Star. All to raise money for the Masonic Cancer Hospital. We even sold some Braclets to raise money for the Relay for Life coming up in August.
It was great to get out and visit our Brothers at Fraternal Lodge #92 in Princeton Minnesota. We had a lovely meal and received one of their new Lodge Pins. Here we are with their WM Lee Craig.
We were lucky to have WB Mark Campbell come to lodge tonight and give a lecture on the Civil War and Freemasonry. We learned all about the acts of Brotherhood that occured even during times of war where Brother fought real Brother as well as their fraternal ones. It was great to have several members of Nelson Lodge #135 come and enjoy the lecture as well! We always appreciate thier love and support.
For a second year in a row the Brothers of Sherburne Lodge showed their appreciation and thanks to our Sisters of the Whittemore Chapter #283 of the Order of the Eastern Star. It was great to be able to do something for them for a change and let them know how much they mean to us!
Today in conjunction with our Sisters in Whittemore Chapter #283, we held our first ever Bingo & Brat Fundraiser, with the purpose of all proceeds going to the Relay for Life event benefiting the American Cancer Society. It was a great event, cohosted by our own WB Tony Oker and Worthy Matron Barb Lawton. A Total of $362.00 was raised and will go a long way to help us reach our goal of at leat $1500.00, Which we hope to have Grand Lodge Match the funds!
For the second year in a row we were pleased to be able to present the WB James LaRock Scholarship awards to local students. Three of the four recipients making it out for a dinner held in their honor, along with their families we enjoyed a meal prepared by the ladies of the Whittemore Chapter #283 of our own Order of the Eastern Star. It was a delicious dinner and a wonderful night!
Once again the members of Sherburne Lodge ventured forth and visited Brothers from another lodge. This time we landed at Templar Lodge #176 and stole their traveling Trophy, the Templar Flag, which is very difficult to do, requiring many members of the lodge to do! Also in attendance were four Brothers from St. John's Lodge #1 in Stillwater, it was a wonderful night for the lodge and great to spend time with Brothers from all over!
Sherburne Lodge #95 held it's 4th Annual Beer & Cigar Night at Claddagh's Pub. It was a great night of laughs while raising over $500.00 towards our Scholarship Fund. We even had the Grand Master of Minnesota, MWB John Gann come out to spend a little time with us.
We were pleased to be visited by the lovely young ladies of Job's Daughters of Bethel #48. Their honored Queen and a couple of her court came out to talk about their organization and did a great job!
We had a nice turn out for our second annual Brotherhood BBQ at Brother Kyle's house. We had some Masons and Non Mason that we hope someday to maybe join the lodge! The food was great and so was the company!
For a second year in a row Sherburne Lodge was able to not only attend the Lynnhurst Turkey Dinner but also fill a table and represent in style. The dinner is the first offical outing of the new Grand Master of minnesota, Right Worshipful Brother John Gann.
Once again the members of Sherburne Lodge made a nice showing at the Grand Lodge Communication, this year being held up in Duluth Minnesota! We had 6 Brothers come up and spend the weekend up North, showing our appreciation for the outgoing Grand Master James A. Christensen and supporting our Worshipful Master as he receives the Wayfaring Man Award.
