The Brothers of Sherburne Lodge #95 participated in the Bowling Tournament held by Fraternal Lodge #92 in Princeton. For a second year in a row our boys kicked butt and came home with the Trophy!
We once again performed a Master Masons Degree, bringing in Brother Bryon Burdette as well as a courtesy degree for Jasper Lodge #164 of Rush City.
It was a great day for Sherburne Lodge 395 as we had 4 New Master Masons raised at the Grand Lodge One Day to Masonry. The Huntley Family, Father Carl and his son's Adam, David and Michael. Pictured here with the members of Sherburne Lodge in attendance with them is the Grand Master of Minnesota, MWB Robert Darling, Worshipful Master Dennis Niles and their Uncle and Grandfather who are also Masons.
It was great to hve our newest Candidate of 2017 take his first Degree as a Courtesy at Anoka Lodge #30. We had a number of Brothers come out and attend in support and look forward to having him continue his journey in March.
We were very pleased to be able to present our Jr. Past Master of 2016 his Apron for his service to the lodge last year.
We were happy to put on a Fellow Craft Degree and even more so to have Brother james Kush sit in the East as Master for his first time, doing a nice job! The night was topped off by the fast that the Grand Master of Minnesota, MWB Robert Darling and our District Representative Phil Carlson were also there!
It was nice to hold our officer Installation for 2017 in a regular lodge setting again as the new officer line took their oath. though we had a few changes to the line it should be another great year for Sherburne lodge and it's officers!
Continuing our Tradition here at the lodge, members of Sherburne Lodge along with our Sisters in the Whittemore Chapter braved the bitter cold to Ring the Bell for those in need during this Holiday Season. Here are just a few pictures from the 4 shifts that day!
For the first time the members of Sherburne Lodge #95 held our Annual Communication at the new Masonic Haritage Center. A beautiful setting to also host the members of Shekinah #104 Royal Arch Masons as they once again put on the Past Masters Allegory!
It was great to finall hold our first degree of the year, with our newest Brother, Bryan Burdette taking his first step into the Fraternity! It was great have visitors from several lodges in attendance to assist as well!
Once again Sherburne Lodge helds it's annual awards night, giving out Year Pins to several Brothers, Including Wb Arne Engstrom for 30 years, WB Bob Bowersox for his 35 years and Brother Ken Warneke for his 50 years of service to the craft. Worshipful Master Steven also gave out the masonic Tree award to WB Terrance Schaffer and Brother Andy Crook for their constant assistance to the lodge and lastly to WB Gene Stauffacher receiving the "Step Up" award for filling in as Junior Warden and other activities sicne joining the lodge. It was a great night and made more special by the members of Whittemore Chapter coming out and making dinner for us all!
Another solid tradition now, we held our 3rd Annual Oktoberfest Night at McCoys Pub in Elk River. Once again we raised funds not only for the WB James LaRock's Scholarship Fund but also selling raffle tickets for giving gift cards to Cub Foods to local Veterans.
For a second year, the Brothers of Sherburne Lodge #95 were asked and honored to serve lunch to the public at the Elk River Fire Departments Open House. This year we served along side our Sisters in the Whittemore Chapter of the OES and gave out over 200 meals. Fire Chief John Cunningham was very greatful for our help and hopes we will continue this tradition in the future!
The Lodge was visited this night by Kate Steinbach from the Relay for Life organization. She came to dinner tonight to honor the Lodge for being the #1 Fund Raiser for the Elk River Event again this year and to present a couple of the Brothers individual awards for coming in 1st and 3rd in pledges. WB Terrance Schaffer and Brother Andy Crook did wonderful in their efforts and the whole Sherburne Masonic Family shined again this year!
It was great to be able to travel over to Plymouth Lodge #160 and attend their annual Awards night, where our own WB Gene Stauffacher was receiving his 40 year pin from his home lodge for his years of service to the craft.
The Brothers of Sherburne Lodge made a Special Trip over the river to spend time with the Brothers of Chippewa Falls Lodge #176. It was a great visit as they arrived on the night of a MM Degree and got to see the differance in the work.
Just when you thought we couldn't have a better year then last year, the Sherburne Masonic Family, Lead by Brother Andy Crook and his extensive family went out and raised over $5,000.00 and with matching funds we will be giving them over 10k... Once again being the number one team for the event and putting what we hope is another nail in the coffin of finally taking out this terrible disease!
For a 3rd year in a row we celebrated as a Masonic Family and got together for the Fellowship Picnic! Due to it being a busy summer and so much else going on, it was a smaller group but we still had a wonderful time and enjoyed perhaps the best weather we have had for this event!
For a 3rd year the Sherburne Masonic family and it's Appending Body representatives went out and with a make shift float participated in the Sherburne County Fair Parade. It was another hot day, but we had a great time passing out about 150 flyers and with the help of Brother Kyle Scott's Karaoke machine's Speakers and Mic, we were able to talk to the crowd, and sing a few songs from our Boom Box!
For a third year we were once again pleased to be giving out our annual WB James LaRock Scholarship Awards. This year we were able to increase the number we gave out and so 6 local students received awards. Once again the ladies of Whittemore Chapter #283 assisted by making dinner for us all.
